How to write a resume

The most frustrating part of a graduate’s life, is to create a resume for his/her first job. This is where you have to highlight what you have got, despite the lack of experience and required skills. This is the reason why, it is always advised to get an internship, while you’re in graduating years, as it would help you greatly in forming a perfect college graduate Resume. However, leaving these issues aside, following are some of the points you need to attend to while preparing a resume that could improve your chances of getting a good job.

1). Focus on Career Path

Now before you set out to write your resume, you need to focus on your career path. State down skills which you think suits the career needs. Also mention any extracurricular activities that you have done in regards with that specific job. Usually the students unconsciously add almost all the things without caring if they have any connection with the job or not. You should avoid this because the employers do not appreciate such an irrelevant data. Be focused, centralize the resume and hope for the best.

2). Skills

Afterwards you have to assess yourself and your capabilities in relation to the positionyou are applying for. Ask yourself if you possess communication abilities or not. See, if you have marketing capabilities. Or any other abilities like tech know-how, managing abilities etc. In case you possess such capabilities you need to write them down. But simply stating, “excellent management skills”, will not help. You need to elaborate how you have applied these abilities. It could be “used management skills to lead a group of team mates in accomplishing a project”. Now the employer would understand what you are talented in. You should mention qualities like your technical abilities, management capabilities, conversation skills etc in your CV.

3). Your Achievements

Write down all your achievements, whatever you have accomplished. If you have attended seminars, workshops, social work, certifications, extra courses, mention them all.

4). Resume Writing

An appropriate lay out of the resume matters a lot despite having impressive skills and professional knowledge. Bear in mind that your resume should be legible and explicit but at the same time should be highlighting your abilities to the maximum. Do not make silly spelling or grammar mistakes, do not fill the resume with fluff and drag it to 3 pages long. A perfect resume should not exceed 2 pages in any case with every vital detail being explicitly mentioned.

It isn’t necessary that your fist CV needs to be outstanding but you have to prepare it with full faith and that’s what makes a difference. Also while in graduate years, try your level best to get into various activities, as that all would help you a great deal in your professional life.
