How To Go About Balustrading

A baluster is a railing option that fulfills the function of securing an area and providing support. This form of railing also lifts the look of a building. Balustrading is becoming a favorite when it comes to putting down railings both around domestic and commercial property.

There are self installation or do it yourself balustrade systems but it is recommended that you have a clear understanding of how to use them. If you are adept with tools and are often dabbling with one home improvement object or the other, then you can probably manage this but you will need help.

It begins with making sure that the area the baluster is to surround is completely flat and smooth. Clearly mark out the area where fence stand. That done, locate the middle on the base. Drill through the surface and apply a heavy duty adhesive to the opening you have created.

Lay down a concrete anchor followed by the support rod. Then, position the base in line with the markings made. If necessary, apply more adhesive. This is followed by column placement within the outline of the base. Put on adhesive to the columns at the top and below. Hold down each of them using a nut and an iron post. Clip off any extra height from the columns so that it is the same as that of the iron post.

Lay the lower rail down, keeping the lines straight. Use a level for this. Use a chalk string too if necessary. Set the balusters along the lines of the bottom rail. Measure the space in between to ensure it is even. To see where the balusters should go, use markings along the bottom rail When everything is well fastened and marked, put adhesive to the balusters and push them down onto the lower rail.

The tops of the columns go down next and then the top rail can be worked on. A board screwed down to the top of the balusters will make the top rail self secured. If you can keenly follow the directions, the result will be balustrading that you will lift both the visual appeal of your property as well as your sense of accomplishment.
